REQUEST THE NEW ALBUM EVERYWHERE! This will help create some real momentum at the retail level; it would be great to have local retailers alerting their corporate headquarters about this album. So get with your friends and alternate with eachother going to all the music stores you normally shop at every few days to check in with them about the new album. Start the buzz with them on the demand this album will have so they can stock up! TALKING TO EMPLOYEES AT THE MUSIC STORES. If the people working at stores or their assistants say anything negative about the band or harass you in general accusing you of just being a Street teamer, just play cool and don't anger them, just let them know you like The Washington Projects and make them realize the demand for their new album. When they do arrive at the stores see if you can thank them for stocking it if you recall who you asked week's prior. MESSAGE BOARDS MISSION/ HOW TO REPRESENT THE BAND CORRECTLY Make sure you're posting on message boards that you're already involved in. Don't join 10 new boards, post about The Washington Projects new album, and then leave (That just upsets people and they will know you're a street teamer)! This is commonly known in the message board circuit as spamming and when you do this it counteracts promotions more than helps. If you want to join some music related boards a few weeks and be active before you start promoting that is the best way. Also, many message boards allow you to link a homepage in your profile. If you do not have a homepage, please make the homepage in your profile WWW.WASHINGTONPROJECTS.COM *Signatures and Washington Projects Promo Banners on message boards with current Promotion webtools are the key to subtle less in your face Promotion, Direct Links to the bands website is helpful but does not immediately direct them to what the band wants us to promote at that time so please use the Current Promotion tools in its place making sure each of them direct to the main site! WWW.WASHINGTONPROJECTS.COM. This is a good way to get the bands name out and current Washington Projects Promotion message seen without driving people insane with over-promotion. The best promotion is repetitive promotion and when they see the Promotion Banners it will cause more curiosity than constant postings just about The Washington Projects and the album. HANDLING RUDE COMMENTS ON MESSAGE BOARDS. Also, please be cool with people online. If you’re a jerk to someone while trying to promote the band, you will definitely turn them off. Don't let your pride get the best of you…act mature and fit in with the users. Whenever you go Promote and represent the band in a positive way. Sure, every message boards has it's so called bullies and people who think they run the place so just ignore those and don't let them get the best of you, You are there to promote for the band not play games with immature posters. Familiar-looking Promotional Tools is another good way to promote without shoving information down peoples throats. If people see promotion for The Washington Projects. through AIM icons, banners, stickers, flyers, etc., it reminds them each time they see it…causing it to really stick in their heads! If you use MSN, you can change your "screen name" appearance so that people see the CD title with the date it comes out. Same goes for Yahoo; you can change what appears next to your name in parentheses. In AOL/AIM, change your profile info to mention the album and put a link to the WWW.WASHINGTONPROJECTS.COM. When the albums come out, go to sites and stores like itunes, www.amazon.com, www.bestbuy.com and other sites that ask for reviews and add yours. Sites like www.spin.com or www.rollingstone.com usually offer that also or rating systems. THE WASHINGTON PROJECTS PROMOTION FLYERS Get set to plaster your city with The Washington Projects paraphernalia! This is a very effective form of Promotion outside of online tools, just download and Print out one good quality copy of the WP Promotional Flyers and print on WHITE PAPER ONLY! Colored flyers are corny and do not look cool at all for a band like The Washington Projects also, Basic Black and White copies have the underground look and stand out more the way we have designed them. Make as many copies as you can, cut them out...take them to Kinko’s or your family business, or even ask your church or youth pastor to let you make a few or go to the library and make copies quickly...before they notice. These flyers are to be given to anyone, anywhere. At the mall, at a concert, at school, or put them on your car to promote the new release as well. Just carry them around with you wherever you go and if you see people that look like they might get into The Washington Projects then pass it to them and say hey check this out and leave. If they ask about what the flyer is then just go off letting them know about your favorite band. But do remember anything you say will either help them buy the albums or hurt the chances so be as smooth about it as you can! Malls and shopping areas skate parks concert events etc are a good place to do this just don't let security see you or they may stop you! When handing these out, tell them about the release and that they should check it out and buy it! Stay Updated with The Washington Projects Street Team Mass Mail outs This is the key to knowing what is going on with the band, as The Family Street Team page is the first to get news on anything Washington Projects related. It also connects you to the other Washington Projects Street Team Reps and will help motivate you with new ideas to keep Promotions Going!! Send Promotion Reports Do not forget this it only takes a small amount of time weekly. We need to know who is doing what for the band and we need to be aware of who is promoting for the band in their local areas so we can properly Thank you and hook you up when able! You can post any of the webtools, any banner or avatar in the following ways... *please make sure you properly link all banners back to WWW.WASHINGTONPROJECTS.COM so people can be directed there.* · In a Bulletin, explaining why you think people should check out the new Washington Projects album. · On your MySpace, in any section you think it will look good. · Leave it on your friends comment pages, those that do know about The Washington Projects album and those that don’t. · Go to the groups your part of and make a post. YOUR ONLINE BLOG Whether you use a Xanga, Live Journal, DiaryLand etc... you can utilize the banners to promote. RADIO STATIONS Radio Station voting- When you are randomly emailing or calling radio stations and asking them to play The Washington Projects, make sure they are actually IN your listening area!! Radio stations do not like it when you call and ask them to play the song on their 1-800 numbers (or any other number) and you're not in their area. Many stations have a page where you can fill out a form for a request right there but they may be weary of your request if you don't live in their area. CLICK HERE FOR A DETAILED LIST OF RADIO & T.V. STATIONS TO FIND THE NEAREST ONES IN YOUR AREA. - Networking with local Family to help you call If you have a radio station that plays Hip-Hop or R&B in your area and you want to get them tons of requests for The Washington Projects than do so by networking locally with your friends and others to help you call. Here's how: - Local mail lists Get your own emailing list going of local Family and supporters to help you get the job done and email them when new songs are released and when you feel that you're not hearing enough of The Washington Projects on the radio. Please tell them to call sporadically. Call 2 or 3 times a day on different phone lines and at times when different DJs are on so you're not calling the same one over and over. The radio stations do have caller ID, so don't call the same station every 15 minutes. These are all ways of ticking off DJ's to the point that when they hear the name "The Washington Projects" that makes them cringe and NOT want to play the songs. - Be nice If the DJ's or their assistants say anything negative about The Washington Projects or just in general just play cool with them and don't tick them off, but do let them know you like them and need to hear them or whatever. Don't get hurt with them if they say negative stuff. They are DJ's and sometimes that is part of their persona. ;) - Radio requesting thanks When you hear The Washington Projects, call and thank the DJ's.
